WebRTC has a rich and interesting history, starting in 2010 with Google’s acquisition of On2 and Global IP Solutions. It’s been seven years, and WebRTC v1.0 is finally considered feature complete by W3C and supported across Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Edge, as well as iOS and Android.
